SOMMERRUST was founded by Axel Sommer and Frank Rust in 2014 between the cities of Berlin and Heidelberg.

SOMMERRUST helps companies improve their innovation capabilities, and design and introduce new business models.
We can support our clients during all innovation stages — from developing a new vision and generating ideas to designing business models to post-launch performance measurement and optimization. Our approach is generally applicable to all industries and types of organizations. We ensure that the necessary functional or sector-specific competencies are available via multidisciplinary teams from the very beginning.

During our consulting projects, we use a unique combination of established methods from Strategic Management and methods pioneered in the digital start-up scene. Our approach also incorporates a lot of elements from the so-called "Design Thinking". Design Thinking puts the needs of the customer at center stage, integrates clients into the innovation process, and accelerates it through rapid iterations. In addition, we are leveraging generative AI since 2023 to make innovation projects better and more efficient. This way, the sweet spot where customer needs, feasibility and economic viability meet can be found much faster.
Our approach not only shortens the innovation cycle, it also reduces the necessary investments and risks compared to conventionally managed innovation projects.
